This year's annual work conference was once again held via video conference, chaired by Wang Binzhou, Deputy General Manager of Administration at the company.
The meeting heard work reports from key projects in Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Mianyang, Haikou, Wuzhishan, Xishuangbanna, and other regions, as well as from subsidiaries specializing in asset management, construction, decoration, property management, and more. Bai Guohua, Executive Deputy General Manager, delivered a summary of the company’s 2020 performance on behalf of the management team and subsequently outlined the company’s 2021 work plan.
2020 was an extraordinary year. Amidst a complex market environment, the company’s industrial restructuring has largely taken shape, with business segments now spanning diversified areas such as real estate development, engineering construction, interior decoration and renovation, property services, financial investments, commercial management, health & wellness tourism, and hotel operations. Meanwhile, the number of subsidiaries has been rapidly expanding, and the company’s management reach is steadily growing. Despite numerous challenges and obstacles encountered along the way, the outlook for future growth remains promising.
After listening to presentations from various companies, General Manager Bai Wu Kui pointed out that while the past year was indeed marked by challenges such as recurring COVID-19 outbreaks and a sluggish market, these external factors also highlighted numerous internal issues within the company. These include the lack of a systematic approach to cost management and comprehensive budgeting, unclear lines of authority and responsibility following industrial restructuring, and inefficiencies in the management teams overseeing new projects. He emphasized that, moving forward into the new year, everyone must proactively address these existing problems—taking ownership rather than passing the blame or shying away from difficulties. With a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, we must ensure the timely and high-quality completion of our 2021 tasks, delivering a results-oriented performance that will satisfy the Board of Directors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Bai Xuankui delivered a keynote speech. He first expressed gratitude to everyone in the company for their hard work and dedication over the past year, while encouraging them to stay confident and determined. He emphasized that 2021 will be a pivotal year for the company, marking a historic leap in its overall scale—and also the year when projects outside Shanxi Province, following the company’s strategic industrial restructuring, begin to yield significant results. Despite the current challenging market conditions, he noted that these circumstances continue to present both opportunities and challenges for the company. Bai urged all functional departments and subsidiaries to strictly adhere to the overarching plans set forth by the company’s board of directors, ensuring they remain well-informed, strategically aligned, motivated, and firmly grounded. Together, they must strive toward the early realization of Chenxing Development’s ambitious goals: achieving "three key transformations," "four major improvements," and "five notable enhancements."
